The second tip seems obvious but can be difficult to remember when you’re caught up in the excitement of the project: Take your time and read your instructions thoroughly. ![]() The first tip is important for everyone, but especially for people who are used to beading without a loom: “If you’re an off-loom beader, forget what you know about beading!” Using a bead loom is different than beading without one, as your needle goes through the beads in a line, not stitching through them to form a motif. The technique is easy once you get the hang of it, and you will work row by row. If you do not have a bead loom, no worries! Bead looms can even be made from cardboard. If the loom is shorter, you will need to stitch two loomed pieces together to make your bracelet. Please note, if you are using the loom to create a bracelet, it is easiest if your loom is at least 9” in length. Each loom is different depending on the brand, whether that be in size, assembly, and the amount of thread you will need to use in order to complete your project. To get started, you will first need a bead loom of your choice. Close the ends.ĩ.Bead looms are incredibly useful tools when it comes to creating patterned beadwork. Smear a little glue on the inside of the slider clasp and slide it onto the bracelet. Let the glue dry, and then cut off the excess thread.Ĩ. ![]() Put some strong glue on all of the knots to secure them. Tie all of the strings together in double knots to secure the beads on the ends.ħ. When the bracelet is long enough, carefully cut it off the loom, keeping the strings as long as possible. Turn the needle around and push it back through the beads, making sure it goes over the thread.Ħ. Push the beads up through the spaces between the threads on the loom.ĥ. Bring the thread and beads UNDER the thread across the loom, to the opposite side of where you tied it on.Ĥ. Thread the needle on the other end of the thread.ģ.Start on one end of the pattern and string the beads on. Leave a tail a few inches long and slide the knot as close to one side as you can. Cut a piece of thread about the size from your fingers to your shoulder and tie it onto the first strand that is going across the loom. Continue until you have one more thread than row of beads in your pattern.Ģ. Bring the thread back across the loom, putting it through the groove next in line on each side, and wrap it around the first nail. Wrap the thread around the other side of the loom one time. Gently stretch the thread across the loom, putting in a groove on each side as you go. First, tie your thread in a double knot to one nail on the loom.
